This deepfake is way better than the actual finale. One problem I notice though is the corner of his head has different lighting than the rest of his face. In other words, it looks like the skin doesn't match at times, but you guys did great so I have to clap it. You did a better job than a billion-dollar cinema monopoly.
SpiritSlayer9 dögum síðan
Yes
Lou Sar48 mínútum síðan
Considering that Faverou had to "sneak in" Luke Skywalker, they had to work FAST and do what they could before #FIREKATHLEENKENNEDY could find out! #cancelDisneyplus
MrMfGKlukkustund síðan
better? you mean different
Leo KornKlukkustund síðan
It looks better, yeah.
eviltwinzak2 klukkustundum síðan
It's not that difficult to make anything 21st century Disney better.
Arturo Fernández2 klukkustundum síðan
Hope u learned something about this guys, DISNEY!!!!
Jack Maslov CZ5 klukkustundum síðan
Your deep fake was a little bit more plasticky so it indeed looked a bit more like a CG model, but I think a tiny color adjustment and a slightly different reflection layer would make it just perfect! That's why I prefer by a little the edit of the original, but the movement and the scene of yours is intensely more detailed! Great job!
Ric01a5 klukkustundum síðan
whoua....Amazing....Good job
Hitchcock Timothy6 klukkustundum síðan
Yours is better! Disney are over paid hacks compared to you guys! They should be ashamed and you guys should rule Disney effects!
CK Tee7 klukkustundum síðan
this reminded me of that awful Henry cavill mustache removal.

it´s very hard to create human skin realistic. and the Hair!
Marc Ramirez12 klukkustundum síðan
did he just say “jedee”
VK12 klukkustundum síðan
Very good, but the compositing is still off...you can tell where the new face begins..I suggest you blend the boundaries of the face 50% with the original, leave cheeks, jaw untouched almost
GhostX2213 klukkustundum síðan
Look more realistic in the way it moves but it feels like it’s from some kind of ps3 cutscene
Vampire Clan17 klukkustundum síðan

Who did the R2 deepfake? Spoilers!!! It was Wren! That’s why he was using helium so his voice could match R2’s.

Further evidence Disney isnt doing well with SW.

you can have the best technology and fuck it all because of the $1 wig...

They didn't have a lot of people or time to work on this because they didn't want anything getting leaked.
Champe Ramírez21 klukkustund síðan
Noupe. Not better than original. Yet. You guys are graet at what you do. With a Disney-like budget and enough time, you would do PERFECT.
J HooverDegi Síðan síðan
I think it turned out good but more time should have been spent in choosing an actor. If the actor would have been closer in facial proportions and in body size I think it would have turned out a lot better.
DexDegi Síðan síðan
Are you seriously putting a thumb and title up with Luke Skywalker in it, a short summary of the video at the start and THEN add a spoiler alert?? What is the fucking point?
Sérgio OliveiraDegi Síðan síðan
Congratulations. Hope Disney will hire you guys next time.
Daniel EngelmannDegi Síðan síðan
Better than Disney, still not 100%, but y'all beat a multi billion dollar company in like 2 weeks, hats off.

I've seen Deepfakes on Facebook that look better than what Disney did for Luke. A friend of mine on had one of his friends take a bunch of his FB pics and use Deepfake to stick his face on clips from a bunch of different movies, etc. Replacing the actor's face with my friends. And it looks perfect. Disney's Luke looks blurry and lacks any emotion or expression.

Chris BaconhamDegi Síðan síðan
is it "better" I dunno, imo the lighting, the reflection and the texture of the skin still feel little bit off, maybe bc I already knew its CGI and no way mark hamill can reversing his age. also, I really don't understand why r the professionals so obsessed with CGI, the recent tom cruise deepfake vids on tiktok r REALLY convincing, obviously theres a better and cheaper solution
Witxo AvilezDegi Síðan síðan
Is not better. Disney version seems to be certain dead eyes, but the corridor version is more obvious that its fake... and the hair looks like a horrible photoshop copypaste.
Pavel AveryanovDegi Síðan síðan
I think it is same level of quality with disney, which is pretty high, but still it feels like deepfake

The effects looks worse imo, but this have more soul than the Mandalorian Luke, so is way better overall, graphics are not that important for a character like Luke.

Only 28k comments so far? This valiant effort deserves yet even more praise, and this scene in The Mandalorian is one that many of us have been wanting to see since about 1983 !! You guys are amazing and you ROCK! I hope you are considering filming your own fan-made sequel trilogy, with deep-fakes for Luke Han & Leia, ...and *real* scripts & stories, .. we're still waiting. We're patient. Ask Disney for a grant; they OWE you for this effort!
Nigel Walker2 dögum síðan
It's insane how ordinary people now have the technology that only multimillion dollar films and TV series used to be capable of.

The most disturbing part, raid shadow legends sponsorship.
Savage Kenobi2 dögum síðan
His hair wasn't as poofy, and long in Return of the Jedi. It was more clean and tidy. Nevertheless this also works a treat. I'm just glad we got the REAL version of Luke back, and Disney did right by us fans after that lack luster Luke we were dealt in the sequels
XavGmng2 dögum síðan
the hair was the biggest turn off. as wel as the cgi background. has way too much stuff happening in the background that brought the focus away from luke. having more does not always equal better. but the face was super on point.
Jack2 dögum síðan
disneys is so much better lol

DeathW1sh3 dögum síðan
the disney version has more of a 2d face while this one is way more 3d ish and alot more clean
Mykee3d3 dögum síðan
If you watch only after "are you a jedi" it looks absolutely perfect. I think Luke's entrance and double handed hood reveal from the original was more spot on. I will admit, warmer Luke Skywalker does hit different tho. If you could somehow combine the two it would be absolute perfection.
Brickandmorty3 dögum síðan
I can’t believe they got Nottomcruise to be in the video that guy is hillarious

Yours looks like from Batllefront II :D
Clay Williams4 dögum síðan
It's a little more rough than the Disney version in some spots, but overall it's far more enjoyable. You actually get to see Luke display emotion, instead of the awkward blank stares he gives Grogu and everybody else in the original. If you guys had just a bit more time with this to polish the acting and the subtle line between the deep fake face and the actors forehead, i feel like this would be 100% better than Disney's version. I wish they hadn't played it so safe, it just feels like this version of Luke has sworn off all emotion at this point, which looks really sad.
qoalabot4 dögum síðan
That is looking way better than disney's.
FrooostedFlakes4 dögum síðan
This looks incredible!!! The only thing I’d change is the wig, but you guys were on a time crunch and I thought it was perfect given that! Dean captured Mark’s mannerisms and expressions so well and the whole team really did a great job pulling this off in such a short amount of time!!!
Jacob Leising-Yeager4 dögum síðan
That smile before he says "come little one" makes me think of young luke smiling because he remembers yoda
InSiDiOuS_MaRe4 dögum síðan
I think disney did a great job on this
ItsH4RV4 dögum síðan
Disney has been really quit after this video came out
Constantin Slotty4 dögum síðan
You definitely succeeded in making him more realistic, the more skinny body type and too thick of hair threw me off a bit though. I think if you'd try to reflect the overall shape better next time (which should be much more easy than the VFX wizardry) you could have a perfect result!
Opoziter4 dögum síðan
the actor playing luke in this scene, was indeed mark hamil

I really can’t get over how good the final product was, you guys knocked it out of the park. As exciting as seeing Luke for the first time in the original one was, if what you guys made was what they’d given us instead I would have been so much more hyped because _that looks like Luke Skywalker to me._ -unrelated but next time you should really put the spoiler alert after the spoiler lmaoo-
Hermaeus Mora4 dögum síðan
Luke looks really good. The only thing not quite right is the top lip, it doesn't move when he talks, people use both lips when speaking. Other than that, fantastic it was!
mandofan4 dögum síðan
yeah lips didn't work, but good try.
Hawqe5 dögum síðan
they definitely did the deep fake right, but the hair looks inaccurate and the background makes it seem like he's in a cutscene from a video game.
Chris Hutchins5 dögum síðan
I'm torn. I feel like the changes you made were more like a lateral shift, where Disney ultimately gave us one version of uncanny valley, and you gave us another. But I think you have done as well as expected at our current level of technology, so kudos to you. Now fix Clu from Tron: Legacy and maybe Disney will hire you to create a better edition of the movie.
Madsquerl5 dögum síðan

Angelos USA5 dögum síðan
This version looks more real, the expressions sold it, smiling seeing Grogu would remind Luke of yoda. Why haven’t movie studios reached out to you more often?! You are the best
Ash Hill5 dögum síðan
Original: More subtle texture and detail in face, feels somehow more crisp and real; better mouth movement looks realistic Yours: Lighting and color makes it pop, brings it better into the environment; looks WAY more like Mark Hamill; far more life in expressions Overall, Even though the original feels a bit more real in a way because of its pros, I still like yours a bit better. Incredible job, guys!
graham alderson5 dögum síðan
Will disney ever release how much man hours and cash they threw into their version. Did they come out if the process with a sellable rigged mesh to use in later productions.. game and cgi franchises so it's an asset rather than a production

It was better in some ways and worse in other ways. It looked weirdly younger... Like Luke from just before a New Hope who decided to quickly dress like a Jedi. The mouth movement was just as bad.

Pov: disney ask them to work for them
Seraphendipity5 dögum síðan
As others pointed out, while the effort is much appreciated, honestly Disney’s seems to fit more. Your version looks more alive, but so do most depictions of humans due to exaggeration of subtle details.
